Erica Bateman

Dr. Erica Bateman has 20 years of coaching experience, holds PSA ratings in moves in the field and freestyle, is a U.S. Figure Skating Technical Specialist, and has coached national and international competitors.  After earning her bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware in the Exercise Science/Figure Skating Science program, she moved to Southern California and completed a master’s degree in Kinesiology, and a doctorate in Education, Administration and Leadership; she was presented with the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Graduate Student upon graduation. Dr. Bateman is an instructor of Kinesiology in several southern California universities for undergraduate and graduate courses and a contributing author of CER courses for the PSA. She has also published case studies for Dartfish.  She continues to research developing quantitative measurements of skating skill progression, specifically ones that can assist coaches to effectively assess a skater’s individual learning style and adjust their coaching pedagogy to help skaters overcome the learning curve more efficiently.
